La fille aux cheveux de lin by Claude Debussy

Arranged by Marcel Grandjany for the harp

Harp

La fille aux cheveux de lin by Claude Debussy is a beautiful piece from the Romantic era, arranged by Marcel Grandjany for the harp from the original piano version.

It features stylistic techniques such as harmonics and rolled chords to showcase the range of sound that can be created by the harp, as well as a soft and delicate atmosphere, created by resonances within the pauses. I was inspired to choose this piece due to its wonderful use of expressive dynamics and timbre, in addition to the contrast it creates to my other repertoire, through it’s 19th century style.
